Hello Summer!
The whole team at the Office of Business Development thanks you for being part of our small business community. This past school year was a whirlwind of small business success. We heard testimony loud and clear during our 3rd Annual Professional Development Conference. Contracts and new relationships were indeed happening all year long!
The 2024-2025 school year saw the Office of Business Development dig deeper into its commitment to identifying, strengthening, and enhancing the business capacity of Community Based Small Businesses to increase their utilization across New York City Public Schools and its associated offices.
The team created strategy to bring owners of Community Based Small Businesses and decision makers at the school, district and central level together across the city. We secured partnerships with external stakeholders and internal NYCPS teams in order to further advance the mission of ensuring that there was an increase in the number of opportunities for small businesses to do business with NYCPS.
There is now a robust network of partnerships and relationships that can be attributed to intentional programming including the now iconic Small Business Expos and the specialized training provided by the facilitation team of the Expand-U program.
You’ve Got 90 Seconds!
We get lots of requests to feature small businesses and partners so here’s your chance. Send a 90 second video to the team and let us know who you are, what you do and what are you most excited about for the 2025-2026 school year. To be considered, send all content to open4business@schools.nyc.gov by Friday, August 1st.
And the work continues….
Under the leadership of Dr. Tammy Pate, the Office of Business Development has established itself as a vital resource for both small business owners and NYCPS stakeholders. As the office moves forward, it will continue to build on these successes to create a more inclusive and diverse vendor ecosystem for New York City Public Schools.
